Art Department for Chamber Media’s Holiday Commercials
Getting to return to Chamber Media for this project was such a full circle moment for me. Years ago, I was one of the first producers on their micro video program when the company was beginning to explore short form ads. To join their team again as part of the art department was both fun and nostalgic!
For this series of commercials, the creative direction was a playful White Lotus spoof with a few holiday ads in a gorgeous home in Salt Lake City Utah.
As the art department lead, my focus was on props and overall set design. That meant keeping everything within budget while still creating a high end look on screen. For the holiday spots, the challenge was to bring in Christmas and Valentine’s Day decor without letting it feel cliché or overdone. Instead of relying on the typical holiday kitsch, I curated items that felt more like a luxury resort, with clean lines, elegant textures, and high visual impact pieces that photographed beautifully.
When sourcing decor, I paid attention to how each item would translate on camera. A small prop in person can feel flat on screen, while oversized or statement pieces can instantly elevate the mood of the entire set. By carefully selecting pieces that delivered maximum presence for their cost, we achieved that elevated holiday feel while staying mindful of the budget.
The White Lotus spoof was also a highlight. It gave me space to lean into playful yet sophisticated design choices, balancing humor with the chic aesthetic the series is known for.
Overall, this project reminded me why I love set design so much. It is not just about decorating a space, but about building a world where the story can live. Working with Chamber Media again and collaborating with their team of creatives was a refreshing reminder of how much joy I find in blending strategy, creativity, and storytelling through visuals.
